Getting started
How do I start from scratch?
- Create your accountWith your email or with Google. An adult always opens the account.
- Add your childAll you need is a nickname. Tasnna generates an access code for their phone.
- Set up two or three choresFew and easy at the start beats a long list nobody finishes.
- Create a reward they can reachSomething they can get in the first week. If the first prize takes a month, they quit before it.
- Switch notifications on on both phonesThis is the setting that changes the outcome the most and the one most people skip.
If you want a guide on how to introduce it at home, read it in this post.
Does my child need a phone?
Yes. Each child signs in with their own profile from their device, so day to day they need one. It does not have to be new or have a plan: an old phone or a tablet on wifi works perfectly.
What age does it make sense from?
Tasnna is aimed at kids from 8 and up: that is the age where they get the link between doing something and earning something, and can read a list without help. That said, any age can use it.
Under 8 it works with points instead of money and very visual chores, but it needs an adult nearby almost always. And above that it keeps working just as well: plenty of families use it with teenagers too.
Is Tasnna on iPhone?
No. Tasnna is Android only and it is downloaded from Google Play. There is no iPhone version and none is planned.
Children and devices
How does my child get in on their phone?
From your account, in the child's profile, you generate an access code. They install Tasnna on their phone, choose "I am a child" and type that code. From then on that phone is linked to their profile.
The code expires after 30 days and works once. If it expires or gets lost, you generate another one and none of their progress is lost.
They changed phones. What do I do?
Generate a new code from their profile and use it on the new phone. As soon as it is used, the previous phone loses access automatically: you do not have to unlink it by hand.
Can both parents use it from different phones?
Yes. From Settings you can generate a code for the second adult. You both see the same thing and you can both approve chores, create rewards and adjust balances.
Can a child see another family's data, or mine?
No. Each family is isolated on the server, not just on screen: a child profile cannot read the adults' profiles, touch balances, change chores or leave its family. Those rules are enforced in the database, so they hold even if somebody tampers with the app.
Siblings do see some things about each other, like balance or streaks, because that is part of how it works.
Chores and approvals
How much money should I put on a chore?
There is no right number, but small and frequent works better than large and rare. A reference that works: between 0.20 and 1 for everyday chores, and save the bigger amounts for what really costs effort.
If you would rather not handle money, each child can earn points instead. You change it from their profile at any time.
What is the difference between a normal chore and a recurring one?
- Normal: done once, and it disappears when you approve it.
- Recurring: it comes back on the days you pick. This is the one that holds routines together.
On the free plan you can have 4 one-off chores per child and 2 active recurring ones.
What is race mode?
A chore in race mode is assigned to several children, but the first one to do it takes it. It works well for things that only need doing once, like taking out the trash, and for sharing them out without assigning by hand.
What is a joint chore?
A chore two or more children have to do together, like tidying the room they share. It cannot be approved until they have all marked their part, and when it is approved they all get paid. That is exactly what makes it different from race mode: in race mode one child takes it; in a joint chore, they all do it or it does not count.
My child marked a chore they had not done
Nothing is paid until you approve it. If something does not add up, you turn it down and nothing is credited.
If you had already approved it, you can unapprove it from the history: the reward is taken back and, if it was the same day, the streak is undone too.
What are deductions?
A record of something that went wrong, with an optional penalty. It stays in the history and the child can take responsibility from their phone.
If several siblings are involved, you can record it as a group deduction and have one of them take it on.
Money, goals and rewards
Is the money in the app real money?
No. Every balance in Tasnna is a record of a private agreement inside the family. Tasnna never holds, moves or transfers real money.
If you decide to hand your child the money they have saved up, that happens outside the app and it is your call. It is set out in the terms.
Can I use points instead of money?
Yes, and per child: one can earn money and another points. You pick it from each profile and you can change it later, converting the balance at whatever rate you decide.
What currency are chores and rewards in?
Yours. Tasnna supports the euro, the dollar and 13 more currencies from Latin America.
You pick it under Settings → Preferences and can change it later: balances, chores, savings goals and rewards convert on their own at an approximate rate, without you having to retype the amounts.
How do savings goals work?
Your child suggests something they want, with its price, and puts part of what they earn toward it. The progress bar is what makes doing chores today worth it for something arriving in three weeks.
You can lock a goal so they cannot take the money out early.
What are surprise rewards?
A reward whose name stays hidden behind a question mark until they redeem it. They get the alert that something new is there, but not what it is. It is a Tasnna Pro feature.
Can siblings pass balance to each other?
Yes, with Tasnna Pro. They decide it from their home screen and you see it in the history. You are not the one moving it.
Notifications and streaks
I am not getting notifications
Check, in this order:
- That you allowed them when the app asked. If you said no, switch them on in the Android settings, in the Tasnna entry.
- That you do not have quiet hours switched on inside the app.
- That Android has not put Tasnna on battery saver, which eats more alerts than anything else. In the phone settings, in the app entry, set battery use to "unrestricted".
What alerts are there?
- To you: when your child marks a chore, when they ask for a reward and when they reach a savings goal.
- To them: reminders of what is pending, an alert when you approve something, and when their streak is about to break.
Their streak broke and it should not have
A streak needs at least one approved chore each day. If the chore was marked but you approved it the next day, the day of approval counts.
For vacations or days away from home, switch on vacation mode in their profile: the streak pauses instead of breaking.
PIN, account and data
What is the PIN for?
So that, with your phone unlocked in someone's hand, the delicate things cannot be done: adding or removing money, deleting a profile, changing sensitive settings. You choose which actions it protects.
It is checked on the server, not in the app, so it cannot be bypassed by tampering with the phone.
I forgot the PIN
You can reset it from the app by confirming your password. If you signed in with Google and have no password, the app lets you create one first.
How do I delete my account and all the data?
From the app, under Settings and Privacy, or from this page without writing to us.
Everything goes: your children's profiles, the chores, the history, the balances and the photos. It cannot be undone and we cannot recover it afterwards.
What data about my children do you store?
The nickname you type (the app asks for a nickname, not the real name) and what use generates: chores, balances, savings goals and achievements. We do not ask for date of birth, address, phone, or access to contacts or location.
Proof photos for a chore delete themselves shortly after it is approved. The detail is in the privacy policy and in the children's privacy policy.
How much does Tasnna cost?
There is a full free plan and a Tasnna Pro plan. Right now every family has Pro at no cost until further notice, at least until 15 October 2026, with no card and no automatic charge. If that access is closed, we will give at least two weeks' notice.
What each plan includes is set out on the plans page.
